Bennett, Bodine & Waters is a law office in Shawnee, Kansas. I had the opportunity to create a new visual identity for them. I presented the client multiple logo mockups and helped narrow it down to a simple wordmark and icon with their initials for a professional, yet modern and sustainable logo. I enjoyed the challenge of experimenting with typography to find the right combination for their desired aesthetic.
Deliverables: logos, style guide and business stationery designs.
After starting my career, I discovered a new love for a graphics tablet. I’ve enjoyed challenging myself to create new things and exploring the world of illustration. A lot of times, my illustrations blossom from random doodles I made on sticky notes.
Mexigo is a taco truck rooted in serving bilingual communities. I developed the visual identity for Mexigo for multiple platforms from print to packaging to a bilingual mobile app. This project challenged me to dive into multiple areas of design, and learn more about UI/UX design.
Deliverables: logo design, food truck design, interactive mobile app, food packaging, menu design, and apparel.
The Mexigo app was created for Mexigo, a traveling taco truck to share its location, menu and other information with its bilingual customers.
Wanting a special Christmas gift for my difficult-to-buy-for grandparents, I decided to illustrate and create a family tree of our growing family.
My grandparents mean a lot to me, they have rooted our family in so many family traditions that I will hold onto forever. They also supported me in my education and generously helped me through college. I wanted to create something that they could see why I devoted my education in the graphic design field.
While I put a lot of love into this project, I quickly realized the task I gave myself in creating individual illustrated icons of each of the 20 family members, a challenge that pushed me to finish the project just in time for Christmas.
After the whole tree was complete, I split up the tree into the smaller branches of each individual family (as gifts for my aunts, uncles and parents).
Scraps KC is a non-profit creative re-use store located in the West Bottoms. I worked with Scraps KC to create a visual brand for their new storefront.
The icon in the logo is a light bulb with a trashcan as its base. The concept comes from the idea of "creating ideas out of trash." One of the store's missions is give new purpose to material that would normally be thrown away to use for creative projects or education.
Deliverables: logo, store signage, social media icons, business cards, style guide.
Mini Moscato is a glass-sized bottle of Moscato designed for the modern connoisseur of wine, but does not want to drink a whole bottle.
Project details: Inspired by the cute little bottles of wine at the liquor store, I designed a new label with a clean, geometric and retro design.
S+B Wedding Programs
I had the pleasure of helping one of my best friends create custom fan programs for her outdoor wedding. I designed the fan in Illustrator and assembled over 200 fans with glue, hand-dipped popsicle sticks and twine. I loved this project and all of its labor for love.
My friend, Caitlin, photographed this couple’s engagement photos and hired me to create their save-the-date. The bride was inspired by designs she saw on Pinterest and really wanted to incorporate sunflowers in the design. I used what she showed me a springboard to create a custom save-the-date for her and her husband-to-be. I hand-sketched the sunflower and digitized it in Illustrator.
I had the honor of creating a full wedding suite for an old friend. This project was challenging yet very rewarding once completed. Initially, it was difficult to narrow down a specific look for the invitations. After multiple drafts, the bride’s vision was more clear and the work became a lot more focused and cohesive. I treated this project as if it were a brand and stayed with the same look for all pieces of the suite.
Deliverables: invitation, RSVP card, accommodations card and program.
Every year, Gear for Sports hosts a warehouse sale for the local Kansas City market. I had the opportunity to create some original designs for the sale. Staying true to each brand’s visual standards, I created a designs for a Champion hoodie for Pitt State and an Under Armour t-shirt for the Kansas City Royals. I presented multiple sketches to the art director to select the final designs to be printed.
In honor of the release of Stranger Things 2, I created this gif of Eleven. I created each frame of the gif using multiple artboards in Illustrator then I used Photoshop to combine each frame for a looping animation.
A collection of portrait photography.
Timeless Traditions, Inc.
Timeless Traditions, Inc. is a Hallmark Gold Crown Store in Overland Park, Kansas. Timeless Traditions was my first job in high school and I have had the pleasure to share my passion for design and marketing with the store through its social media, website design, and anniversary tote bag designs.
Deliverables: Logo design, website design, and anniversary bag designs.
I hid the initials "TT" for Timeless Traditions in the teeth of the key and a little crown to represent Hallmark in the decorative part.
Tour Chablekal is an interactive, bilingual application designed for iPad, created to inform potential tourists and encourage travel to the town of Chablekal, Mexico (located in the Yucatán peninsula in the Gulf of Mexico). I learned a lot about UI/UX design during this project and did a lot of research to make my app function efficiently.
Tour Chablekal is a travel app created for iPad for prospective tourists interested in visiting Chablekal, Mexico.
Art Box Collection
The art box collection includes packaging for different art supplies. The permanent marker box was created with a template for a Heidelberg Press. The other boxes used a custom template cut and died on a Plotter Cutter machine. I wanted each box to be part of unified brand yet also communicate as a singular product.
Award: Silver Award in Packaging Design for American Advertising Federation Awards, AAF Joplin, February 2016.
